The OECD has published two Guidance Documents (GDs) on the reporting of what are termed "Defined Approaches" which are based on the integration of different kinds of non-animal data derived for example from their physicochemical properties, computational modelling or in vitro methods. Defined approaches are emerging in areas of toxicology where a combination of two or more non-animal methods is required to provide a sufficient level of information to make regulatory safety decisions about chemicals.
