ESAC 35th meeting
ECVAM (the European Centre for the Validation of Alternative Methods), hosted by the JRC-IHCP, has a Scientific Advisory Committee (ESAC) composed of 15 external scientists working in academia, industry and industry organisations, public institutions or as independent consultants. These members are selected on the basis of their scientific expertise, are required to act independently, free from any third party influence, and only on the basis of scientific considerations.
The ECVAM Scientific Advisory Committee (ESAC) meets biannually to advise ECVAM on scientific and technical issues related to alternative methods to animal testing and in particular to discuss and conclude on scientific peer reviews of validation studies evaluated and/or conducted by ECAVM.
During the upcoming meeting, the ESAC will conclude the peer review of an ECVAM follow-up study on the predictive capacity of the 3T3 Neutral Red Uptake and discuss scientific questions to be addressed during the upcoming ESAC peer review of 4 test methods for skin sensitisation. Finally, the ESAC will be informed about ECVAM's activities and those of ECVAM's most significant international partners, i.e. other regional validation bodies collaborating in the context of the International Cooperation on Alternative Testing Methods (ICATM) as well as the OECD Test Guidelines Programme.
Agenda and minutes will be made available after the meeting.
