"How to facilitate the use of alternative methods by regulators?"
The 10th Annual Conference of the European partnership for Alternative Approaches to Animal Testing (EPAA) will be held on 19th November in Brussels.
Representatives of EPAA from both the European Commission and industry will present the highlights of EPAA's work during 2014. Dedicated sessions will address the move from research to regulation and regulatory acceptance of alternative methods.
Confirmed speakers include MEP Sirpa Pietikäinen, the Principle Administrator of the OECD Test Guidelines Programme Anne Gourmelon, Joel Majerowicz from the Brazilian Health Surveillance Agency (ANVISA) as well as JRC's Director-General Vladimir Šucha and Daniel Calleja Crespo, the Director-General for Enterprise and Industry.
Session 3 'Moving from research to regulation: the need for more predictive safety science' will include a contribution by EURL ECVAM, the EU Reference Laboratory for Alternatives to Animal Testing hosted by the JRC: João Barroso (EURL ECVAM) will give a presentation entitled "Integrated Approaches to Testing and Assessment (IATA) - the example of Skin Sensitisation".
EPAA expects to be able to attract about 200 participants from academia, NGOs, industry, European and international institutions, as well as national regulatory authorities.
The event will be webstreamed live and the video recordings will be made available on the event website for consultation.
