Focus on cosmetics regulation and safety assessment
A four-days training and information exchange event has been organised by the Joint Research Centre, Institute for Health and Consumer Protection (JRC-IHCP) for a delegation of the Chinese regulatory authorities (General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of the People Republic of China - AQSIQ).
The event, organized at the request of the European Commission Directorate-General for Health and Consumers (DG SANCO), took place from 26 to 29 November 2012 in the premises of the JRC-IHCP System Toxicology Unit and the European Union Reference Laboratory for Alternatives to Animal Testing (EURL ECVAM) GLP Test facilities.
Both EURL ECVAM and DG SANCO staff participated in the information exchange on EU and Chinese regulations in the field of cosmetics, on safety assessment and regulatory aspects in both regions.
JRC-IHCP scientists gave presentations on the validation practice and strategies of EURL ECVAM and its current activities in the fields of skin sensitization, carcinogenicity and toxicokinetics, followed by a practical training in the EURL GLP Test Facility on validated assay protocols in these areas.
