A European perspective of the challenges and goals for advancing safety assessment of chemicals
Maurice Whelan, Head of the Systems Toxicology Unit at the Joint Research Centre, Institute for Health and Consumer Protection, will attend the forum on “Systems Biology – Informed Risk Assessment” at the US National Academy of Sciences in Washington DC on June 14-15th. He is invited by the National Academies Committee on Emerging Science for Environmental Health Decisions to present a European perspective of the challenges and goals for advancing safety assessment of chemicals.
The forum will be a platform to discuss the concepts and problems of current approaches and the current successes and challenges of next generation of risk assessment. The goal is to consider how emerging science relating to molecular and systems biology could be used to inform assessment of chemicals in a regulatory context and what key scientific issues must be addressed.
The forum will be webcast. All details on the forum web site.
