On 21 and 22 October 2010, the Joint Research Centre Institute for Health and Consumer Protection (JRC-IHCP) hosted the International Workshop on "Stakeholders' needs for an EU Endocrine Active Substances Database".
The initiative was taken following a mandate received by the IHCP from DG Environment, to develop a new EU Web-based Information System on Endocrine Actives Substances, to be developed and hosted by the JRC.
This IT resource should provide the community of stakeholders with a tool to find the latest information and a platform to share and disseminate new (research) results.
Based on these premises, the workshop aimed at collecting a wide range of views about existing needs for data collection and sharing, to develop a list of recommendations which the IHCP will use to specify the requirements for the new system.
