Advisory and Consultation Bodies
To achieve its mission, EURL ECVAM depends on first-class, independent expert advice from scientists working in a large spectrum of scientific disciplines, ranging from life, biomedical and environmental sciences, test method development and optimisation, to statistics and modelling approaches.
In addition, the opinion of stakeholders and regulatory scientists on potential test method relevance, usability and cost is an important element in EURL ECVAM's prioritisation process ensuring that test methods validated by EURL ECVAM do serve end users' needs.
For reasons of transparency and to guarantee a separation of scientific advice from stakeholder opinion, EURL ECVAM has set-up some advisory and consultation bodies:
EURL ECVAM SCIENTIFIC ADVISORY COMMITTEE (ESAC)
The EURL ECVAM Scientific Advisory Committee (ESAC) main role is to independently assess the scientific quality of test method validation studies conducted by ECVAM or stakeholders who have submitted their studies for EURL ECVAM evaluation and ESAC peer review. Read more on ESAC
EURL ECVAM Stakeholder Forum (ESTAF)
The ECVAM Stakeholder Forum (ESTAF) is EURL ECVAM's instrument for maintaining close dialogue with its non-governmental stakeholders from industry, academia and civil society organisations.
