Promoting the acceptance and use of chemical exposure models through transparent documentation - Nov 10, 2016
Promoting the acceptance and use of chemical exposure models through transparent documentation
JRC scientists have contributed to the development of a reporting standard for the description of chemical exposure models, in collaboration with the European Committee for Standardisation (CEN) and other stakeholders. This work was carried out within the frame of the JRC's collaboration with the CEN.

OECD publishes two Guidance Documents on integrated non-animal approaches to chemical safety assessment
The OECD has published two Guidance Documents (GDs) on the reporting of what are termed "Defined Approaches" which are based on the integration of different kinds of non-animal data derived for example from their physicochemical properties, computational modelling or in vitro methods. Defined approaches are emerging in areas of toxicology where a combination of two or more non-animal methods is required to provide a sufficient level of information to make regulatory safety decisions about chemicals.
Computational modelling of estrogen active substances: results of a large-scale international research project - Nov 16, 2016
Computational modelling of estrogen active substances: results of a large-scale international research project
The JRC contributed to a large-scale modelling project led by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) that demonstrated the usefulness of computational models in screening thousands of environmental chemicals for their ability to bind to the estrogen receptor. Chemicals that bind to the estrogen receptor may interfere with the biological effects of the natural hormone estrogen, potentially leading to adverse effects on both humans and wildlife.
