In 2010 the "Linz-Congress", which has become one of the major international scientific events in the field of the 3Rs, was held in cooperation with ESTIV (European Society of Toxicology in vitro) as “ESTIV 2010 - the 16th International Congress on In Vitro Toxicology”.
The participants were updated on new approaches; new methodologies, e.g. -omics-techniques or the correlation between in vitro data and human data were discussed in the lectures and poster presentations, and a wide sprectrum of toxicological effects were addressed as well as cross-cutting.
The program of the congresses in Linz also focused on legal and ethical aspects and on standardising and and harmonising in vitro approaches, specifically on good cell culture practices. The congress also offered a forum for reviewing the latest developments in the European chemicals and cosmetics policy in context with the use of alternatives methods.
